In this lesson, students will learn how to write and set time on an analog clock with quarter hours. Students will watch a video to learn more about how to use phrases like, “quarter past,” “quarter to,” and “half past.” Then students will complete several activities in which they practice writing time and setting clocks to reflect the correct time on the adjustable clock tool.

Introduction
Students will review what they know about analog clocks and discuss their answers to several questions about analog clocks with their classmates.
Instruction
Begin the lesson by explaining the word “quarter” and how each quarter is 15 minutes. Have students uncover to learn more about “quarter past,” “half past,” “quarter to,” and “o’clock.” Then have students watch a video about quarter hours on analog clocks. Guide students in completing several activities in which they practice writing time, such as helping Billy read clocks so he knows when to brush his teeth. Next, guide students in setting analog clocks with quarter hours on their own. Students will use the adjustable clock tool and set the zookeeper's alarm clock so he knows when to feed the lions. Students will circle the clock that shows the correct time and draw the hands on an analog clock to show the right time.

Closing
Students will think about the time they wake up and sleep on a daily basis. Next, they will then adjust two clocks to reflect both these times. Lastly, they will write the time underneath each clock.
