In this lesson, students will learn about the simple verb tenses: past, present, and future tense. They will discuss each tense and complete several activities practicing the concept.

Students will be able to use simple verb tenses in their writing.
Students will review verbs.
They will then talk about past tense verbs, words that show an action that has happened in the past. Explain that past tense verbs usually end in -ed. They will also discuss present tense verbs, words that show an action that is happening now. Explain that present tense verbs usually end in -s or -es. They will go over future tense verbs, words that show an action that is going to happen later. Explain that future tense verbs are usually preceded by the word, "will."
Students will complete a dragging activity, sorting verbs into past, present, or future tense. They will read several sentences and determine whether the verbs in each sentence are past, present, or future tense.
Review simple verb tenses with 10 questions which ask them to identify past, present, and future verbs in sentences, and to determine if a given verb is past, present or future tense.
Students will recall the simple verb tenses and complete 2 more activities to practice past, present, and future tenses.
