This lesson will help students learn how to recognize and print the letter Yy. They will have a yeti guide for the lesson.

Learning objective
Students will be able to recognize and print the letter Yy, as well as determine if a word has an Yy sound.
Introduction
Students will match uppercase letters they've previously learned to their animal guides to reveal their animal guide, Yuki the Yeti. They will review how to write the letter Xx.
Instruction
Yuki the Yeti will have Max demonstrate how to write the letter Yy. Students will then practice writing uppercase and lowercase Yy on the board and on their own paper. Two students can race to complete a puzzle that makes the letter Yy.
Students will then practice pronouncing words with Yy sounds. They will get to name as many words that start with the letter Yy as they can think of! They’ll also get to use their letter Yy knowledge to complete a fun activity that will help Yuki the Yeti get back to the human world.

Closing
Students will review how to write the letter Yy and then decorate the letter Yy. Challenge your students with an 8-piece puzzle!
