This lesson will help students learn how to recognize and print the letter Mm. Students follow the monkey Maya through the lesson.

Students will be able to recognize and print the letter Mm, as well as determine if a word has an Mm sound.
Students are asked to review the letter Ll and drag the letter 'l' to where it belongs on the given words. In doing so, students reveal Mayra the Monkey, their guide for the letter M. Students are then asked to write the upper and lowercase L. You may choose to have students do this on their own sheets of paper, or to ask a few students to come to the board to demonstrate writing the letter.
Have students help Mayra create the word with the letter m. Mayra will then ask her friend Max to write the letter m in the air. Have students do this along with Max. Have them practice a few times. Students will then practice writing uppercase and lowercase Mm on the board and on their own paper. Two students can race to complete a puzzle that shows where Mayra lives.
Students will then practice and pronounce Mm sounds. Ask students if they can determine which letter belongs at the start of each of the given words. Have the class determine if they need an uppercase or lowercase Mm. How do they decide? Students will then practice identifying Mm sounds in words. Have students then complete the maze by following the Mm words to help Mayra get home.
Review the letter M with 10 questions on identifying the letter Mm. They must do so by clicking the letter Mm within words, within sentences, and by only selecting the upper or lowercase Mm. They are then asked to listen for an M m sound in a word.
Students will review how to write the letter M and then decorate the letter Mm.
