This lesson will help students learn how to recognize and print the letter Dd. Students follow Dax the dog through the lesson.

Learning objective
Students will be able to recognize and print the letter Dd, as well as determine if a word has a Dd sound.
Introduction
Students are asked to review the letter Cc and drag the Cc's to the "C-shore." By doing so they reveal Dax the dog, their guide for the letter Dd. Students are then asked to write the upper and lowercase Cc. You may choose to have students do this on their own sheets of paper or to ask a few students to come to the board to demonstrate writing the letter.
Instruction
Have students help Dax fix his book by dragging the D's. Dax will then ask his assistant, Max, to write the letter Dd in the air. Have students do this along with Max. Have them practice a few times. Students will then practice writing uppercase and lowercase Dd on the board and on their own paper. Two students can complete a puzzle that shows Dax's bones.
Students will then practice and pronounce Dd sounds. Ask students if they can determine which letter belongs at the start of each of the given words. Have the class determine if they need an uppercase or lowercase Dd. How do they decide? Students will then practice identifying Dd sounds in words. Have students help Dax dig up diamonds by deleting words that have the letter Dd in them.
Quiz
Review the letter Dd with 10 questions on identifying the letter Dd. They must do so by clicking the letter Dd within words, within sentences, and by only selecting the upper or lowercase Dd. They are then asked to identify if the given words have a Dd.
Closing
Students will review how to write the letter Dd and then decorate the word "bad."
