In this lesson, students will review thick and thin questions. They will then read the passage and answer questions, as well as make their own.

Students will look at a picture of a waterfall and ask and answer questions about it with a partner. Explain why being able to decipher between thick and thin questions is important.
Students will review thin and thick questions. Ask students to give examples of each.
Next, they will read a passage about habitats for native and non-native animals. They will match the question stems of thin questions to the correct phrases. They will also answer the thin and thick questions. Then, they will create one thin question and one thick question about the passage and read them to a partner.
Students will answer ten questions in which they must identify thick and thin questions as well as determine characteristics of thick and thin questions.
