In this lesson, students will learn how past, present, and future verbs are used to show when an action happens. They will complete several activities identifying and using the different verb tenses. They will also write sentences using past, present, and future verbs.
CCSS.ELA-Literacy.L.1.1e
Students will be able to use past, present, and future verbs.
Students will read three sentences with bolded words and determine what those words have in common: they are all verbs.
Students will be introduced to past, present, and future tense verbs. They will read examples of those verbs in sentences (e.g., "The class rode the bus to the zoo yesterday.")
Students will read several sentences and determine whether the bolded verbs are past, present, or future tense. Next, they will do a similar activity to the previous one but also need to identify the verbs in the sentences. They will also read sentences and drag the verbs to the correct sentences. They will then use a picture of a parade to write their own sentences. They will tell whether the verb(s) they used were past, present, or future tense.
Students will 10 questions about lesson concepts, including identifying verbs in sentences and identifying the verb tenses.
Students will recall what they learned about past, present, and future verbs. They will complete an activity where they spin the wheel and tell the verb tense of the verb on which they land. Lastly, they will look at three pictures and write sentences for each.
