Learning objective
Students will be able to use modal auxiliaries in a sentence.
Introduction
First, students will review verbs. They will then be introduced to the concept of modal auxiliary verbs and these in particular: will, would, shall, and ought to.
Instruction
Students will be presented with examples of when to use these modal auxiliaries. They will use each in a sentence. After that, they will do a few activities that build on their knowledge of modal auxiliaries. Students will drag the correct modal auxiliary verbs to the sentences. They will also identify the modal auxiliary verbs in the sentences they read. Students will recap what they learned and match the modal auxiliaries to the descriptions of their uses.
