I can tell how characters respond to challenges in a story.
Sometimes students face problems or challenges in life and can relate to the problems characters have.
The lesson opens with a scenario where students choose how they would feel in an event. This activates their prior knowledge of feeling words that they will need to use to describe how characters feel when responding to challenges.
The development explains what “challenges,” “actions,” and “dialogue” are. Students are presented with scenarios of people facing challenges. For each scenario, they answer questions, such as, “What is the challenge or problem?” and “How did she feel?”
Review what students learned with 10 questions.
Students reflect on what they learned in this lesson and why it is important. Students take part in an activity where they draw pictures of different scenarios and discuss the challenges, dialogues, and actions.
