In this lesson, students will review prepositions and learn to use them in their writing.

Learning objective
Students will be able to explain the purpose of prepositions and use them effectively.
Introduction
Students will review the most common parts of speech (noun, adjective, verb) in preparation for understanding how prepositions connect these parts of speech.
Instruction
Students will learn the general role of prepositions. They will then learn the specific roles prepositions play in sentences by learning the main categories of prepositions (time, place, movement, etc) and seeing how prepositions connect to an object (forming a prepositional phrase) to provide this information. They will also learn to use prepositions in writing. Students will engage in many activities including identifying prepositions and their objects, categorizing given by prepositional phrases, and creating prepositional phrases.
