In this lesson, students will be introduced to the concept of nouns. They will complete activities identifying examples, as well as nonexamples.
CCSS.ELA-Literacy.L.K.1b
Students will be able to use frequently occurring nouns.
Students will think of words that name people, places, things, and animals (nouns). Explain how knowing nouns can help students become better readers and writers.
Students will look at pictures of various people, places, and things, and identify all the pictures that show people. They will do the same with places, things, and animals. They will identify people, places, and things by dragging different-colored circles. They will also identify non-examples, such as "run" or "dance."
Students will review nouns with 10 questions that will ask them to identify pictures of different nouns, as well identify nouns within sentences.
Close out the lesson by having students recall what they learned about nouns and play a spin the wheel game.
