In this lesson, students will learn how to form plural nouns by adding -s and -es to singular nouns. They will also learn how to identify the type of noun so they know how to change it.

Learning objective
Students will be able to form plural nouns.
Introduction
Students will look at two pictures and tell a partner what they see (how many bananas). They will say, "I see a banana," and "I see 3 bananas." Then they will discuss the difference in how they described the two pictures: banana vs. bananas.
Instruction
Students will be introduced to singular and plural nouns. They will see how to make a singular noun into a plural noun by adding -s. They will look at a few different examples, such as "bike" to "bikes." They will also see how to add -es to singular nouns to make them plural. They will see this example: "dress" to "dresses."
Students will match singular and plural noun pairs that came out of the "plural pipe." They will also look at a few different sets of objects and name the singular and plural nouns for each set. They will some different activities, including decorating a tree with ornament(s) and put jelly on bread, and describe what they are doing. Students will then complete sentences with the right singular or plural noun.
Quiz
Students will review when to use singular or plural nouns (and how to form them) with 10 multiple-choice questions.
Closing
Students will recall what they learned about adding -s and -es to words. They will then look at pictures of different nouns with a partner and take turns naming the plural form of the noun.
