Students will be able to use information from multiple sources to answer questions.
Students will discuss the different ways they can gather information. They will look at examples of sources, such as written text, visuals, and audio. Why is using multiple sources to find an answer important?
Students will read a passage about hurricanes and delight details from the passage to answer questions. Next, they will watch a video about hurricanes and take notes to answer questions. Using the information they gathered from the text, photographs, and video, students will describe the movement of a hurricane and destruction that could occur as a result.
They will do a similar series of tasks with the topic of tsunamis. They will read a passage about tsunamis and answer questions. They will also watch a video about earthquakes triggering tsunamis. Students will put sentences in order to describe how earthquakes can cause tsunamis to form.
Students will answer ten questions which cover the key concepts of the lesson.
Students will recall what they learned about using multiple sources of information. Lastly, students will use diagrams and text to explain different types of volcanos.
