Students learn to master the sight words, "in," "said," and "for."
CCSS.ELA-Literacy.RF.K.3c
Students will be able to recognize and read the words, "in," "said," and "for."
Students begin by reviewing uppercase and lowercase letters. Then, they will discuss sight words and explain that sight words are words that are found in lots of stories. Being able to read sight words will make reading easier.
The lesson goes through the same process for each of the three sight words. First, the word is introduced and used in sentences. After that, students will look at and say the word. They will say the word, spell the letter, and read the word again. They will also tap out the words on their arms and air write the words. Students then practice writing and identifying the words. Complete the words by filling in the missing letters. Then students will do a couple of fun dragging activities that involve identifying these sight words.
Students are given 10 questions in which they are asked to listen to the speaker and rearrange the letters to spell the word they hear, determine which word has been said, and identify the speaker that says a given word.
Students will explain how being able to build and read sight words makes them a stronger reader. Ask students to spell the words. Finally, students will listen and drag the correct word to the box.
