Students will be able to count dollars with increments to 20 dollars.
Students will use the Gynzy bead string tool to review counting by fives and tens. They will learn that this is important when learning to count paper currency.
After practicing skip counting, students learn that one-dollar bills are counted in number order. They count several groups of dollar bills and check to see if they are correct. Next, they move on to counting groups of five-dollar bills by fives and apply that skill to groups of the bills. Students learn to count combinations of ones and fives. They are instructed to sort the bills in order from greatest to least. They count along with an audio prompt, first the fives then adding on the ones. An exercise following this about change reinforces this skill. Continuing on, students count ten-dollar bills by tens, and then combine the 3 bills with another group of bills that is audio prompted. They receive further drill with the use of the Count Money tool.
Students respond to ten multiple-choice and true/false questions.
Students count amounts given as change at an ice cream shop, then check to see if they are correct.
