In this lesson, students will learn how to ask questions about texts they read. They will read several passages and ask "who," "what," "when," "where," "why," and "how" questions.

A detective will ask students to join him by putting on their detective hats and answer questions. Discuss why it is important to ask and answer questions while reading.
Go over the different question words, "who," "what," and "where," "when," "why," and "how," and how they are used. Students will also read an example of each question word in a sentence.
Next, they will complete the questions by dragging the correct question words. Students will read a passage about a monkey and bananas. They will highlight the text to answer the question, "Who is the story about?" They will also read a passage about a dog named Bailey and answer the question, "Why did Bailey run away from Nathan?"
Students will respond to six drag-to-sort and multiple-choice questions.
