CCSS.ELA-Literacy.RI.7.9
Students will be able to compare and contrast how two or more authors write about the same topic.
Students will read a passage and determine the author's point of view. Discuss why it is important to analyze the way that two or more authors write about the same topic to understand the different perspectives.
Students will read two paragraphs with opposite points of view and compare and contrast them. Next, they will read two paragraphs about solar panels that present completely different facts. They will respond to the prompt, "Should kids be allowed to play football?" and compare their responses with the sample response.
Students will respond to ten questions which review key concepts and ask them to analyze two texts.
Students will recall:
- Why is it important to analyze the way that two authors write about a topic?
- How can other pieces of writing influence our point of view?
